April Showers: It’s Raining Music
It’s April in Chennai, and it’s hot. To heat things up just a little bit more, IndiEarth At The Park is hosting three supremely talented independent acts this Saturday April 5th at the fourth edition of our monthly independent music gig series. A splash of bluesy folk, woven in with some loopy magic, topped off with a phat dose of funk and old skool hip hop. That’s what’s in store for you this Saturday.
Whirling Kalapas – an alternative folk/blues/acoustic act that features a solid lineup of musical heavyweights including the iconic Uday Benegal of Indus Creed, renowned multi-instrumentalist and veteran session musician Sankarshan “Shanks” Kini and talented bass guitarist Ashwin Andrew – will be first to take to the lobby stage at The Park Chennai. The act has been headlining festivals around the country, and has recently released their self-titled debut EP.
Delhi based singer/songwriter Vasuda Sharma is next on the lineup at the Leather Bar, an artist who blends her Indian Classical training with Western contemporary elements. Her loop set involves some beatboxing, harmonies, and a generous spoonful of experimentation.
To close the night at Pasha will be DJ Uri Solanki paying tribute to the art of turntablism with his pledge to only play on vinyl decks. Uri continues to tour around the UK, Europe and India playing old skool hip hop, funk, break beat and soul.
One night not to be missed – beat the heat with a splash of music this Saturday night.
